Newest blog- Balancing Whale Product Review

When Jabadabado’s new balancing whale arrived I was over the moon with the product’s appearance, especially how the product is packed in its box. The packaging is designed to create a sea theme with bubbles and seaweed printed on the front. A design feature that stood out to me was the cutouts in the box to show the products inside for example the different coloured ,wooden blocks you stack on the top are visible through the box. These are different sized circles so they act as bubbles through the box, coming out of the cut out shape of the whale. I feel as though this is a good selling feature as you’re able to preview the whale before buying and I believe it is an eye-catching design compared to just a blue box.

When I first unboxed the product I was surprised it came with a small storage bag for after use, this is smart and another selling point as you are able to store all small pieces such as the dice and wooden blocks on top, at the end of the game it is a stress free tidy away. The only thing I would change about this is I maybe would’ve made the bag a light blue instead of white to match the theme, it does have an animated whale on the side to still add this.

This balancing whale isn’t just a toy, however a game as well, you’re able to snuggle up with your family and play a simple but educational game too. As children learn about balance and distinguishing between different colours. The game involves putting as many wooden blocks as possible on the whales back while preventing it from tipping over in either direction. Roll the included dice, choose the corresponding colour of block and place the block on the whales back. If the block them falls or whale tip the game is over.

Me and Nikki had a game of balancing the whale to put it to the test! The game can be seen as educational for children as they can learn different colours and figure out the difference where they should and shouldn’t place the wooden blocks resulting in developing eye and hand coordination skills. I found it super easy to place the wooden blocks on top as the wooden whale was the perfect width for this. However I can see how the whale would tip over when unbalanced which is a great result as it adds to the challenge of the game.

Overall, this product’s packaging is the best out of the Jabadabado range from an eye-catching, original point of view. The wood used to make the whale, dice and wooden stacking pieces is of great quality and you can tell it is long lasting just from appearance. It is an enjoyable game however although it is the can this product can just be used as a stacking whale. Parents should feel stress free as it is an easy clean up after playing simply tidy away into the smart storage bag with a soft feel to it.
